Château de Montfrin is a fascinating estate with a foot in several appellations. Nestled between Nîmes and Avignon, the historic château is owned by actor and film producer Jean-René de Fleurieu, who farms organically, producing both olives and grapes. His wines span Côtes-du-Rhône, Costières de Nîmes, and the lesser-known Côteaux du Pont du Gard – an IGP that straddles the Rhône, Languedoc, and Provence, covering red, white, and rosé wines.
One of the more unusual wines from the estate is a rosé made from Caladoc – a little-known cross between Grenache and Malbec.
We’re delighted to have Jean-René’s daughter, Aurore Claret de Fleurieu, come and visit the Union to host a wine dinner with us soon – a wonderful chance to taste and learn more about these distinctive wines firsthand!
Tickets are £100 for three courses and all accompanying wine pairings. Arrive from 7pm for a start at 7.30pm sharp.
